Renting in Scugog: what we see

Scugog is Port Perry, a lakeside town with a historic main street, surrounded by farms, hamlets and cottage roads around Lake Scugog.

Port Perry

Houses, apartments above Queen Street shops and newer subdivisions, close to Lakeridge Health Port Perry. Tenants often work locally or drive to Oshawa and Whitby.

Lake Scugog and the shoreline

Waterfront homes and former cottages, some rented year-round. We check heating, water and winter road access before listing, and write snow and dock duties into the lease.

Blackstock, Caesarea and the farms

Rural houses on wells and septic systems, where tenants want space and need a car. The lease covers water testing, heating fuel and outdoor work.

Scugog questions

Do I need to register my Port Perry basement unit?

Yes. Scugog requires every additional dwelling unit to be registered with the Township before anyone lives in it.

Can I add a unit to my rural property?

Usually one, within an existing building's footprint, served by its own well and septic if the house is. Check with the Township before you plan it.

Do you rent waterfront homes year-round?

Yes, once they're ready for winter. We check heating, insulation, water and road access first, and the lease says who clears snow and maintains the dock.
