Uxbridge rules to know before you rent
We don't have Uxbridge reviews to show yet, so here are the Township's own rules, and where to check them.

Renting in Uxbridge: what we see
Uxbridge is a small town on the Oak Ridges Moraine, known for its trails, with farms and estate homes around it.
In town
Older houses, apartments and newer subdivisions near Brock Street and the Uxbridge hospital site of Oak Valley Health. Tenants often work locally, or drive to Markham, Pickering or Newmarket.
Country homes and estates
Rural houses on wells and septic, some with outbuildings or acreage. The lease covers water testing, heating fuel, long-driveway snow clearing and grounds care.
Getting around
Uxbridge has no GO train, so most tenants drive: west to Stouffville and Highway 404, or south to Pickering and Highway 407. Parking, a garage and winter driving go high on applicants' lists.

Uxbridge questions
Is my Uxbridge secondary suite legal to rent?
If it was built with a building permit and registered with the Township, yes. If you're not sure, Development Services can tell you.
Can I ask for a damage deposit?
No. In Ontario you can take a rent deposit of up to one month's rent, for the last month, and a refundable key deposit, but no damage deposit.
Do you rent rural Uxbridge properties?
Yes. We make sure the lease says who tests the well water, pays for heating fuel and clears the snow, and we give applicants time to see the property properly.
