Renting in Aurora: what we see

Aurora is a smaller, mostly family town on Yonge Street, with a GO station and big employers of its own, and most rentals here are whole houses or registered units.

Aurora Village and the GO station

Older houses, duplexes and apartments near Yonge and Wellington and Aurora GO on the Barrie line. Tenants who commute by train ask first about the walk to the station.

East of Yonge: Bayview Wellington and Aurora Grove

Newer family houses and townhouses near Highway 404, where tenants often work locally or in Markham and Newmarket. Many houses here have a registered basement unit.

Larger homes and estates

Executive houses rented to families relocating for work. These take careful pricing and a flexible move-in date, which we plan from the strategy call.

Aurora questions

Do I need to register my basement unit in Aurora?

Yes. Under By-law 6660-24 every additional residential unit must be registered with the Town, and registration includes consent to an inspection.

Can I rent my Aurora house short-term instead?

Only with a Town licence, for stays of 28 days or less, and within the limits: up to three bedrooms or the whole home, one parking space per bedroom and six guests. Most owners find a 12-month tenant simpler.

How fast do Aurora units rent?

Our average across all our placements is 14 days from listing to a signed lease. We'll give you a realistic estimate for your unit on the strategy call.
