Renting in Georgina: what we see

Georgina is a string of lakeside communities on Lake Simcoe's south shore, with a growing year-round population and a lot of former cottages.

Keswick

The largest community, with newer subdivisions near Highway 404 and older lakeside streets. Tenants often commute to Newmarket, Aurora or Toronto, so the drive and the parking matter most.

Sutton, Jackson's Point and Pefferlaw

Smaller towns with older houses and apartments above shops, and lower rents than Keswick. Tenants often work locally or in the trades.

Cottages turned year-round homes

Many lakeshore homes started as cottages. We check heating, insulation, water and winter road access before listing, and the lease spells out who handles snow, the septic system and the dock.

Georgina questions

Should I rent my Georgina cottage short-term or long-term?

Short-term needs a Town licence, inspections, $2 million in insurance and 100 metres from the next short-term rental. A long-term tenant needs none of that, and gives you steady rent through the winter.

Can I add a unit to my Keswick house?

Georgina permits up to two additional units on residential and rural lots, with permits first.

How fast do Georgina rentals rent?

Our average across all our placements is 14 days from listing to a signed lease. Year-round homes near Highway 404 tend to draw the most inquiries; we'll estimate yours on the strategy call.
